Health Tips – Week 23

Today’s health tips is about the benefits of walking.

1.)  Research shows that walking on a regular basis seems to reduce the amount of memory protecting brain tissue you lose with age.

2.)  A study in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise found that three brisk 10-minute walks daily were as effective as one 30-minute walk daily in decreasing the risk factors for heart disease.

3.)  Another recent study at the University of New South Wales in Sydney found that women who spent 20 minutes mixing sprints and jogging lost three times the fat off their legs and butt in 15 weeks than those who jogged steadily for 40 minutes.

Kinda makes you want to walk as exercise now?

Thanks for such a nice comment you left on Makeunder for me – I loved what you said about not letting my inner critic get to me and just saying to her “I’m resting today”…LOVE THAT! (I used it this weekend and it was very helpful :) Thanks for that! Of course I’ll have to keep remembering to do that – my inner critic is stubborn!
